Regulating Humidity Level in Gas Distribution Stations

In order to transfer natural gas into a local grid, the pressurized natural gas is depressurized in gas distribution stations. This results in a sudden dip in the pressure which results in the drop of temperature in the pipelines. With the sudden drop in temperature condensation and icing can occur on and around the surface of the pipelines. Hence it is the reason why dehumidifiers need to be installed in the Ex zones. The dehumidifiers help to protect the building structure along with the metal parts and electronic equipment.

The condensation of water and high humidity in the air is well known to create corrosion of stairways, metal parts, and pipes. This can create moisture related failure in the electronic system of the gas distribution stations. This can create a heavy economic burden on investors. So to keep such problems of failure away it is wise to invest in the installation of good quality dehumidifiers in the gas distribution stations. The solution of humidity in the Ex zone

The solution of humidity in the Ex zone is very unique from other locations as dehumidifiers cannot be installed in the Ex zones because of technical issues. The solution to the problem is somewhat addressed by installing devices around the potentially explosive area. The dehumidification around the Ex zones is operated in two modes:

1. Dehumidification in recirculation mode

This mode of dehumidification is pressure neutral which means no external pressure is applied. It operates with a combination of monitoring equipment such as a gas detector.

2. Dehumidification in ventilation mode

The energy demand is a little bit higher in this type of dehumidification and this mode of operation is run with the application of pressure.

Ambale has been providing dehumidification services in various gas distribution stations. We help to maintain high-quality air in the station with some of the most impressive models on display.  Some of our models come with two different air flows and fans for each circuit. This helps to operate the dehumidifiers to operate both in ventilation mode and recirculation mode. This helps to ensure the air of the gas station can be continuously kept dry and safe.

Installation of the equipment in the gas station

Our team of experts understands that the gas station area is a very sensitive area and even a slight misjudgment can cause huge problems to the investors. Hence before the installation of any equipment our team of experts conducts a site visit to ensure the system is perfect for the Ex zone and is capable of keeping the humid away from the area.

Ambale Desiccant Dehumidifiers function on adsorption technique which is best suited for such applications. Ambale Units are supplied in Auckland, Fiji, Wellington, Tauranga, Hamilton, Northland, and all cities in NZ. Contact us with your query by sending an email to info@ambale.co.nz
